INSTRUCTION APPROACH

Golf, as anyone that has played the game will attest, is a very difficult game.

Most golfers make the game more difficult than it needs to be. They try to self-diagnose their swing issues, and consequently apply fixes that may work in the short term, but ultimately make things worse. They apply tips from well-meaning but untrained acquaintances. They watch Youtube and social media, but more often than not they also aggravate those issues. They watch PGA Tour events and try to do what the Pro’s do!!!

Also, most golfers will readily acknowledge that golf has a large mental component. Yet, discussions reveal that they make decisons and try to execute like the Pro’s.

And, I have yet to meet a new student that does not mention the word “consistency” in describing why they are taking lessons.

So, how does a golfer make the game more simple, and their swing more consistent?

My goal is to create a solid framework of 5 basic keys on which the golfer can develop his skills.

  1. Build a solid pre-shot routine, comprising the fundamentals of set-up, and aim & alignment

  2. Simplify the basics of the golf swing so that the golfer understands what movements are required to make his swing more consistent

  3. Trust the golf swing, how to focus his thoughts and not over-think the process

  4. Develop the mental side of his game, by understanding the “odds” and making better decisions on the course

  5. Appreciating the importance of practicing the four keys above. Quality over quantity, the patience to put process before outcome

Finally, providing constant feedback and encouragement during the lessons, building trust by regularly asking questions.
