ABOUT ME
I was born in Durban, South Africa, and later immigrated to Australia where I became a proud citizen. I was fortunate to live just off one of the many beautiful bays in Sydney harbor, Australia after having lived previously in the capital, Canberra. In 2010, I moved to Dallas with my wife and am now officially a “Texan by Choice”.
MEET MICHAEL LORTAN
USGTF GOLF INSTRUCTOR
I started playing golf at 15 and quickly improved to a low teens handicap. After transitioning from semi-professional rugby and competitive squash, I focused on golf, dropping my handicap to single digits and competing in club events.
This passion for golf eventually led me to teach and share the sport with others.
In 2006, I purchased a set of golf clubs for my wife, sparking my passion for golf instruction. Within two years, she lowered her handicap from beginner to 16, achieving a career-low of 8 and competing in club and inter-club events. Inspired by her success, I pursued a career in teaching and became a USGTF Certified Golf Teaching Professional.
I work with golfers of all levels, from beginners to seasoned players, helping them develop their skills and achieve their personal best. Teaching golf is my passion, and I am dedicated to guiding students through every stage of their journey, whether they're starting out or refining their game for competition.

ABOUT MY GOLF PASSION
Like many golfers, I’ve faced common swing and putting flaws. Through self-diagnosis, study, and dedication, I became a low single-digit handicap golfer, giving me a unique understanding to help recreational players enjoy and succeed in the game.
In 2018, I founded LORTAN GOLF to share my passion for instruction and create innovative golf products. I’ve since developed a range of patent-pending golf gadgets designed to improve your game.
I offer both expert coaching and video analysis to help golfers of all levels elevate their game. Whether refining your swing or exploring new products, I’m here to help you improve your golf experience.
